The tendency of violence and obstruction of journalists’ and media professionals’ work continues to be a serious problem. It proves the tendentious attempts to threaten press freedom and the public’s right to be informed.
The state is responsible to take all active measures to create and maintain an enabling environment for freedom of expression and this obligation is in accordance with Article 10 of the European Convention on Human Rights. The Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe also recommended protection of journalism and safety of journalists and other media actors.
